Dr. Jill Thomson DC, MSc., CCSP
A native of Toronto, Canada, Dr. Thomson received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Upon graduation, she moved to Tennessee and completed her Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. She then moved to California to work at Stanford University in the School of Medicine before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic West. She graduated magna cum laude in December of 2006 and practiced in San Jose, California while completing a post-doctorate degree as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. Dr. Thomson moved to Austin in 2009 and specializes in diversified adjusting, Cox Technic, Active Release Technique (ART) and HansOn Muscle Therapy (HMT).
She is a former competitive figure skater, a two sport college varsity athlete, and All Canadian in both figure skating and rugby. She has experience treating highly trained athletes, such as the San Jose Sharks, Canadian National Figure Skaters, University of Texas athletes, and world class Ironman athletes. In addition, Dr. Thomson is currently the ART specialist for University of Texas women’s athletics.
Dr. Thomson’s educational background allows her to take a biomechanical and physiological approach when evaluating each patient. She believes that each patient brings new challenges, and no two cases are treated the same. “Chiropractic care is unique because it gets to the root of the problem as opposed to chasing symptoms.” explains Dr. Thomson, “I am a firm believer that the entire musculoskeletal system must be addressed in order to restore proper function to the body.”
Her experience in the competitive world and the love of sports gives her the compassion and drive to keep her patients moving. Dr. Thomson not only enables patients to get back to their sport faster, but also helps them improve their athletic performance.
Dr. Thomson appreciates the vibrant exercise culture Austin has to offer. In her spare time she enjoys her workouts at Pure Austin, and running at Lady BirdLake. She will never turn down a ski vacation and enjoys hitting the slopes.
Dr. Tommer Arbuckle DC, CCSP
Dr. Arbuckle received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA, and continued his post-graduate education to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Dr. Arbuckle strives to maintain integrity, passion, and commitment with each patient he works with, allowing them to achieve their goals of optimal performance; he is committed to maintaining a standard of care that utilizes the most up-to-date and effective techniques.
Dr. Arbuckle has extensive training and knowledge in treating injuries involving the musculoskeletal system and specializes in Active Release Technique (ART) and HansOn Muscle Therapy (HMT). Fortunate to have trained under the founders of both specialties, Dr. Arbuckle is Masters Level certified; in addition, he is proficient with Diversified Chiropractic adjustments and Cox Technic. Looking at the body as a kinetic chain, and taking into account one’s biomechanics through functional movement assessments, Dr. Arbuckle enables his patients to maintain active lifestyles and achieve ideal performance based on individual need versus a one-fits-all diagnosis and treatment application.
While in San Jose, Dr. Arbuckle was able to work directly with professional athletes associated with the following teams and organizations: San Francisco 49ers, UFC/Strikeforce, American Kickboxing Academy, San Jose Sabercats, Stanford Nike Farm Team, and US Olympic medalists (marathon, track, triathlon, boxing, and weightlifting). He has also acted as attending physician at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI, providing ART to participating triathletes.
Dr. Arbuckle moved to Austin in 2008 and enjoys spending his free time training with Gilbert’s Gazelles running group and relaxing in the laid-back Austin scene.
Dr. Kyler Brown DC, CCSP
Dr. Brown received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA and continued his post-graduate education to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Dr. Brown has extensive experience treating many types of patients, from professional and amateur athletes to everyday individuals. In addition to traditional chiropractic methods, his specialties include Active Release Technique (masters level), Cox Flexion Distraction, Diversified Spinal and Extra Spinal Rehabilitation Techniques, Selective Functional Movement assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and detailed biomechanical assessment protocols.
Dr. Brown developed his interest in effective, conservative musculoskeletal treatment as a collegiate basketball player and fully understands the importance of athletes returning quickly to their sport without unnecessary invasive treatment. Dr. Brown has experience working with elite athletes including NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, NHL, and Olympic athletes, professional tennis players, English Premier League players, and NCAA and world champion triathletes. In addition to his athletic affiliations, Dr. Brown enjoys working with anyone looking for proactive ways to improve their physical health.
Prior to moving to Austin, Dr. Brown worked in New York City with a widely respected and nationally known ART instructor, Dr. Rob DeStefano, as a consulting physician at the world famous La Palestra Center for Preventative Medicine. At La Palestra, Dr. Brown worked with orthopedists, physical therapists, and elite trainers from all fields. His job was to develop an exercise prescription for athletes and ailing individuals with complex cases that could not be alleviated with traditional treatment plans. While in New York, Dr. Brown also worked as a consulting physician to the Terrier Triathlon Team, and has been an attending physician at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI, providing ART to participating triathletes.
A resident of Austin since 2008, Dr. Brown appreciates the richness and variety of clientele that one of the fittest cities in America has to offer. From Texas high school football players to the grandparents that go to their games, to the runners on Lady Bird Lake, Dr. Brown enjoys enabling Austinites to achieve their everyday best.
Dr. Jordan Pellien DC, MSc
Dr. Pellien received his doctorate from Parker University in Dallas, TX and continued his postgraduate education to earn a Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. In addition to his proficiency in traditional chiropractic care, Dr. Pellien has had extensive training and experience in biomechanical analysis, treatment, rehabilitation, and injury prevention for athletes. His specialties include Active Release Technique, biomechanical assessments and treatments, as well as full body rehabilitation protocols.
Dr. Pellien’s own injuries inspired his studies in conservative musculoskeletal care and the ability to heal the body without drugs or surgery. Dr. Pellien trained in Bogota, Colombia, treating Olympic athletes in their preparations for the 2012 London Olympic Games. He treated athletes from beach and indoor volleyball, soccer, track and field, gymnastics, marathon, Ironman competitions, basketball, baseball, softball, swimming, speed skating, cycling, and golf.
Dr. Pellien returned stateside where he has treated athletes from the NFL, MLB, PGA, NCAA, and the Ironman circuit. Dr. Pellien works closely with orthopedists, physical therapists, and personal trainers to help develop both rehabilitation and athletic performance protocols. Since 2012, Dr. Pellien has been providing chiropractic care for the University of Texas Baseball team, focusing on spinal mechanics, injury prevention, and athletic performance.
The only native Austinite at AST, Dr. Pellien has enjoyed watching the city grow into one of the most vibrant and fittest cities in the US. Dr. Pellien enjoys helping Austinites stay healthy and strong as they achieve their fitness and athletic goals.
Dr. Brandon Solemsaas DC
Dr. Solemsaas received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic FL in Port Orange, FL. Dr. Solemsaas has extensive training and experience in movement screen analysis, rehabilitation, treatment and injury prevention. He is certified in Active Release Techniques (ART), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and Functional Range Release (FRR). He is proficient in Diversified Chiropractic Adjustments and is trained in Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and is a Functional Range Conditioning Provider.
As a former athlete himself, Dr. Solemsaas has a passion for helping athletes of any age as well as anyone who is active. During his undergraduate internship he had the opportunity to work with Division 1 Athletes as well as future Olympians and professional athletes. Prior to joining AST, Dr. Solemsaas spent his chiropractic preceptorship with Dr. James Kurtz of the Seattle Seahawks.
Dr. Solemsaas was heavily involved with the Rehab 2 Performance (R2P) Club while at Palmer. R2P bridges the gap between medical and sports performance health professionals and is aimed to deliver patients the most comprehensive, evidenced based care. He currently is the National and International Student Program Coordinator with R2P.
Dr. Solemsaas’ goal is to empower patients to take control of their own healthcare with providing them the tools they need to get better at home while also treating and diagnosing their condition.
As an alumni of North Dakota State, you will see Dr. Solemsaas cheering on the Bison in his free time. Dr. Solemsaas is an avid sports fan and enjoys being active with his wife and their dog Mojo.
Dr. Donald Levin DC
Donald Levin received his doctorate from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, a suburb outside of Chicago. Prior to beginning his doctorate education, Dr. Levin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and Physical Education from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. There he completed over 1000 clinical hours working directly with high school and college athletes. Over the summer before starting chiropractic school, Dr. Levin obtained is personal training certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Using the education and rehabilitation techniques learned in athletic training, he specialized in clients that suffered from functional limitations and various injuries such as cervical and lumbar herniated discs, sciatica, and torn rotator cuffs. His experience personal training and building client-trainer relationships helped him excel during the clinical years of the doctoral program. While at NUHS he focused in functional rehabilitation, corrective exercise, flexion and distraction, and end range loading. Working with the Midwest Rehabilitation Institute, he has completed the 120-hour course for the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board. Dr. Levin’s practice consists of motion palpation and diversified technique.
A Massachusetts native, Dr. Levin has always been a Boston Strong sports enthusiast and at a young age developed a deep interest in sports medicine. He enjoys working with athletes of all ages, skills sets, and experiences, including his fellow weekend warriors. Dr. Levin is passionate about running, weight training, triathlons, hiking and anything that gets him and his family off the couch and moving.
Dr. Michael Santina DC
Dr. Santina received his doctorate from Life University in Atlanta, GA . Prior to that he attained his bachelors from the University of Alabama. At Life University and the University of Alabama Dr. Santina developed a love of biomechanics, nutrition, and chiropractic. He specializes in Active Release Technique (ART), kinesiotaping, diversified spinal adjusting, Thompson adjusting, and extremity adjusting techniques. His goal is to help his patients first get out of pain, second correct the underlying problem and third be there to help maintain their new found health.
Dr. Santina has worked with many athletes ranging from youth sports to professional sports. His goal is to help in both their recovery and performance. Dr. Santina prides himself upon understanding most sports and how they train and play. This knowledge gives him deeper insight into how sports injuries occur while playing and training, as well as the best way to aid an athlete’s recovery. He has worked with athletes from many different sports including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, track, gymnastics, cheerleading, and swimming. He recently spent time working in D1 Nation Sports Training Facility where he worked with a large population of baseball and volleyball athletes of all ages.
Being from Tuscaloosa, you can be sure that Dr. Santina will find a way to squeeze in a “Roll Tide” from time to time but don’t be worried he is also learning to be a big Longhorn fan since his move to Austin in 2016.
Dr. Bob Ream DC
Dr. Ream received his doctorate from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. Prior to that he attained degrees in Biology from Life University in Marietta, Georgia and Clinical Massage Therapy from Kaplan University in Merrillville, Indiana. His specialties include traditional chiropractic methods, Active Release Technique (ART) and he is in the process of learning Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). He is focused on rehab and movement techniques to allow an individual to get back to pre-injury status with an end goal of making them more functional than prior to their injury.
Dr. Ream developed an interest in working with the human body after his stint in the United States Air Force. When he returned home he was considering entering either the culinary arts or clinical massage therapy. While at school for massage therapy he was instructed by two Chiropractors, amongst many other highly educated professors. One of the Chiropractors taught him the science of Kinesiology and he was hooked. This man saw his potential and wanted to hire him after massage school to perform therapies in his office. Although a great offer, Dr. Ream knew that was not enough for him and he decided to pursue his own Chiropractic doctorate.
Prior to his move to Austin in September of 2016, Dr. Ream worked in Indiana for two different clinics, was a professor for students pursuing their medical assistant degree, worked with the local women’s high school basketball team and became a certified medical examiner. Dr. Ream has been involved in volunteer work with Ronald McDonald house charities, the Make a Wish Foundation and the Alliance for the Great Lakes clean-up program. He looks forward to putting down deep roots here in Austin while helping as many people as he can, and of course taking advantage of all of the great food this city has to offer.
